CHRISTMAS DINNER

Kai! Christmas day 2018 was very busy.
The house had a heavy influx of people. You see, we had just moved to a new house then, so I guess they just wanted to know where we moved to.
Phew!!!
There was hardly anywhere to place your next foot. People were in every available space.

So I reasoned that this last Christmas, though traffic might not be as heavy, we sure would have people around, no matter how light. People will still be showing us love since it was less than two months after the demise of my Mum.

Initially, I didn't want to cook anything special, just normal Rice, (possibly white Rice with Stew), coleslaw and maybe Zobo (Roselle) drink.
But, Joy was around and insisted it must be like every other Christmas. Bunky too had promised to come around, along with Risa, but I had Thomas faith regarding her coming.๐Ÿ˜Then she shocked me and landed on Christmas Eve!๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿป‍♀

Plans changed!
Joy reorganised my plans!
We had received gifts of chicken, raw rice, spices, drinks, etc., so there was no option. We had to cook.
Joy handled the meats.
I made party jollof rice (me sef know say e sweet). I also made the Zobo drink! Oh boy! Natural flavours. Nothing artificial. It became the children's water (Risa's especially) until it finished. It wassssss... just try to imagine it!

When we were done with all the cooking, we cleaned up, bathed and waited for guests (any guest at all) to show up.

But... No one came.

Asides Bhikan (my godson), Dennis (my brother)and Alice (my sister in law) who had come earlier. I'm not even counting them because they are family.

Bunky, Joy and I were lying down in my room, gisting, while Hauwa, Shama and Risa were watching TV. At about 8:00 pm, my phone rang.  It was my boss. He called to check on us and asked, "What have you guys done today?"
Hmmm. See mind reset. We hadn't even eaten, I mean, we had bathed and stayed in the room all day! Asides Hauwa and Risa who had gone out earlier to get ice cream, none of us went out.
After the call, I decided we should have dinner.
So we got up and set the table. Hauwa went for another bowl of ice cream. We had soft drinks, wine, Zobo, cakes (chocolate and vanilla), the very sweet jollof rice, the meats (I knew my sister could cook but mehnn, I was reassured that day). See three-course meal fa!๐Ÿ˜
While we were about saying "grace," Risa spoke out, "This is my first Christmas dinner ever!" My eyes filled up. Wow! We just created a memory for her by that singular act of making our day count.
"Are you glad?" I asked her.
"Yes," she said. She even called her Dad to inform him... #snif
We took pictures, made videos and ended up having a very wonderful time! Just the six of us!❤

Bottom line?
Your happiness is not dependent on anyone. You owe it to yourself to be happy. No one has the power to make you happy, except you.

Take charge of your life!
Create your joy and be happy always!
