THE TOURIST

Jade had been on my case to take a break and come to Lagos. Asides from the fact that we hadn't seen in a long while, three years or so, I honestly would have loved to take advantage of the numerous invitations. But...

She chatted me up one day and was like, "if you don't come by the end of January, I'll come over to Kaduna and see you. I'm tired of missing you. I want to see you and be sure you are okay." Boy, was I excited! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

Jade told me to find out all the tourist sites in Kaduna because she'd love to visit them and take pictures as part of her travelling experience, aka #backpackingchronicles

She especially would love to visit Kajuru Castle. Hmmm...  I told her I'd find out as I wasn't sure if the Castle was now open to the general public since the killing of the expatriate.

She planned to travel by bus, even though she had people offering to buy her flight tickets. My Jadey is adventurous like that.😁

She finally left Lagos for Kaduna. By the time they got to Abuja, it was late, the company decided they would sleep at their terminus and proceed the next morning. I was so concerned for her, but she was still okay with it.

Which kind girl be this sef? If I were the one, I would have been so cranky...

She was such a good sport! She made friends and ended up having fun.

This girl's energy level no be from here jare!

When she finally got to the house, she barely waited to have a bath heading out to meet up with some folks from her Alma Matta. Haba mana!!!

Before she got here, I was a bit concerned about her feeding. Thank God she's not picky when it comes to food! Tuwo (tuwon masara, tuwon shinkafa), Miyan Kuka, Pate, Waina, Kunu, fura, something😁😀... She ate them all! She's cool like that!

She rested for two days after that and by the third day, she was asking Google for the places to visit in KD. Kajuru Castle, Fifth Chukker Polo And Country Club in Turunku, Queen Amina's village, Matsirga Waterfalls, Madakiya (near Kafanchan), Splash Park (formerly Gamji Park), Nok Village, etc... all came up when her search.

Due to security reasons, we couldn't go to Kajuru Castle or visit the Water Falls or even Nok Village to see the famous Terracotta and the remaining artefacts. We were able to visit the Splash Park at Gamji Gate. Khandhee was more willing than me for this trip, but she dumped us afterwards. We also visited the Fifth Chukker Polo and Country Club,(located at Turunku, Igabi Local Government Area, Saminaka/Jos road. You actually branch off at Mararaban Jos). A beautiful and serene place, if you are looking to rest and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life without going far, Fifth Chukker is the place.

She dragged me to those places by fire, by force because me I no be traveller jare. I'm not always up for adventures. I only travel when I have to.

I'm glad she got to climb the Lord Luggard Foot Bridge in Splash park. She also got to kiss the Massive horse head at Fifth Chukker. We are still wondering what is holding the horse head. Looks like it brought its head out through the clouds, while the rest of its body is behind the clouds🤪.

We also got to drink this coffee that was very costly! Hmm... in fact, to make up for the money we spent on it, we had to take lots and lots of pictures!😑

All in all, it was worth the trip. We had fun! We laughed! God, we laughed!!!

Jade is a good travelling companion. She is fun to be with. Never a dull moment with her. When I think of Lagos, I think Jade. She, it was who showed me the fun part of Lagos. So I had that at the back of my mind when I forced myself to follow her around Kaduna.

Gaskiya, na she carry me around when I should have been the one taking her around...😕

Live life.

Get out of your comfort zone once in a while.

You may actually enjoy what you are sceptical about doing.

If you don't enjoy it, at least it'll be an experience added to your life's diary.✌🏻
